This is me, Julia Capraro.
A journalist, ram, and bartender walk into a newsroom
I’m Julia Capraro, an aspiring journalist based in Boston. I am in the process of completing my degree in broadcast journalism and psychology at Suffolk University. While I continue my courses, I am looking towards taking the LSAT and applying to law school.
I still have plenty of time to serve in my undergraduate degree, time I’ve been dedicating to my many passions on and off-campus. I have been writing for the Suffolk Journal, my campus newspaper for the past two years, serving as Editor-at-Large and Digital Editor over the past year. I have gotten to write for every section and find my journalistic strengths and learn more about the process.
I also bartend, because Boston is expensive. I have no issue with bartending in the city. It is such a high energy and intense environment that I have loved since I began a year ago. I make a mean margarita and can pour Guinness flawlessly now too, so it came with some benefit.
I am the youngest of three girls, so I had an exciting childhood that provided me with built-in best friends. Being the youngest of three insighted some character development that has made the the person I am today. My sisters would probably complain that "character development" was copying them as kids, but that's just the sincerest form of flattery.
I also has a cat named Butters, who's my pride and joy. If he never has to respond to an email ever in his lifetime, all this work will be worth it. He's got expensive taste which he definitely learned from me.
Political press has always been an interest of mine, which is what inspired me to pursue my current internship with Sen. Ed Markey. Being in constituent services, I get to work with some of the team on connecting with constituents, experience I can carry towards my journalism.
Now my life isn’t always about school and my career. As a college student, I also like to think I have hobbies. I connected with some of my best friends through art my freshman year. We started an art club at Suffolk that I look forward to every week.

Coming from just outside of Boston, this city has been a second home to me since I could figure out public transit. With this city becoming a beating heart of successful journalism and a great place to find my footing with the work I love, I am ecstatic to be bringing the newsworthy notions of this place to your social’s and screens.
